The windsurfer who nearly ate it, but emerged in triumph

Haakgat, my local break. 19th January. The set waves were about 6 to 8  foot with 12 to 16 foot faces.
The deck that had been constructed there recently was a good row of onlookers. A few kiters and windsurfers out.
One windsurfer, who had really been performing well, was on his way back out after taking a wave. He was confronted by a good sized white water, which he negotiated his way over, but which slowed him down. He appeared to be struggling to get speed as a large wall headed toward him. From the onlookers close to me there was  a gasp as the lip started to curl above him as he went up the wall. It looked like he was going over backwards - but this what actually happened was impressive:

Triumphant and well on the way to completing a clean 360
